Parma is the capital of Italian Food Valley, an area where quality and tradition related to food and wine production (and consumption) in centuries have shaped the land, have capitalized the common taste of the inabithants. This small town, founded by the Romans two centuries before Christ, takes her name form the round shield used by the roman army in that period and has, still evident also today, a roman cross structure builded around the central square, today called Piazza Garibaldi.

Always a rich and full of culture town, during the history Parma in XVI Century became a capital of a small state called Ducato di Parma: in Parma Golosa Gourmet Tour City Walk you can breath the athmosphere of this little capital, see the ancient palace of Farnese and the Borbone families and as the capital of the Duchy of Maria Luigia D’Austria, the Duomo, a masterpiece of the Italian Romanesque whose dome was frescoed by Correggio, and the Battistero in pink marble by Benedetto Antelami.

Parma has also inspired artists from other fields, from the engraver and typographer of Bodoni to the French writer Stendhal. They are also impossible to forget the immortal composer Giuseppe Verdi and the great conductor Arturo Toscanini: thanks to them it has become synonymous with the musical tradition of excellence in Parma’s Teatro Regio.
